Lets talk about VRF compressor failures. Something that is commonly overlooked is the oul delivery system. Repeat failures create dirty systems that force us to address contaminants within the system. This little metal strainer a $20 part has killed more compressors in our our market than power surges or lightning strikes. 

Checking temperature differential across strainers and valves is the most important thing we can do to determine if they need to be replaced. These are components we have access too and must be evaluated anytime we are dealing with a compressor failure.

Do yourself a favor and check your strainers on your oil return circuit after every failure. Remember compressors don’t die, they are murdered by poor practices and lack of maintenance.
